Devotional: Week of 6/15

Weekly Devotional Scripture:

INITIATIVE

"Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God." – Joshua 14:9 NKJV

Many Israelites failed to receive God’s promises. They saw giants in the land and didn’t believe He would give them victory. But Caleb received what God had promised. Why? Because he believed in God. Others had the same opportunities, but only Caleb (and Joshua) fully put belief into action.

However, Caleb did not just receive any land. The degree to which he was blessed was in direct proportion to his personal initiative. Years earlier, Moses told him that if he put his feet down in a few places, he would receive a small inheritance. If he put his feet in more places, he would receive a greater inheritance. The choice was up to him. Caleb believed in God for an abundant blessing, and God blessed him abundantly.

This provides an example for us. The Bible tells us that God blesses and rewards us in part based on our initiative. If He gives us an assignment, we have choices to make. Will we do as little as possible, or give everything we have? Will we be intimidated by opposition? Are we prepared to believe Him just a little or believe Him for great things!

Today, ask God to help you walk by faith. Believe Him in every situation. Don’t be crippled by fear or allow doubt to keep you from experiencing the blessings He has prepared for you. Stand on His Word. Be bold. Move forward in faith!

Prayer

Father, I believe Your promises are true. Give me boldness to step out in faith. I believe You for victory! In Jesus’ name, amen.
